Training Center to Receive Furniture
Teams to visit Home of Hope Murombedzi
Two teams are planning to arrive at Home of Hope Murombedzi in April (2024) to continue the development of the training center. One focus of the time there will be to continue the sewing initiative that was started several years ago. The second focus will be to construct sewing tables and stools for the training center.
Sewing Classes and Instruction
Beginning in April of 2022, sewing classes have been taught at the training center. Along with the classes, business training classes are being held to help the women provide for their families and their communities.
This April (2024) the goal is to assist the local instructors and provide guidance to help them instruct more women in creating a sewing business, and to spread the reach of the sewing instruction to neighboring areas.
Furniture for the Training Center
The sewing initiative will receive a big boost when it can begin using additional furniture to provide workspaces to cut fabric and sew. The plan is to construct eight (or more) desks for the sewing machines, a fabric cutting table, and chairs for the desks. Along with the furniture, the team will be constructing shelving for additional storage of sewing machines, supplies and fabric.
Houses Receive Storage Closets
Another project will be to construct storage units at Home of Hope Murombedzi. The bedrooms for the children need storage shelves for their clothing and personal belongings.
Provide Woodworking Classes
As the table, desks, stools, shelving projects are being completed, our goal is to mentor men in the community and (HHM) students to use the tools and saws we have purchased to build their own projects, and attend the business training classes. Our goal is to have several men learn skills to build tables and stools for their homes, and sell the items to the community.
