Second Annual Soccer Event

Saturday, April 11, 2025, was a beautiful partly sunny, partly cloudy day in Zimbabwe.  Men, women, and children came to cheer on their favorite team at the Home of Hope 2nd Annual Soccer Tournament. Eight churches in the area sent 18 players, each with team jerseys, to compete for a trophy, medals, T-shirts, water bottles, and soccer balls. 

Celebration

There were several tie games that ended in a shootout. Crowds gathered around the selected players who were chosen to kick the ball through the goalposts. Excited spectators yelled, cheered, and danced when their team made a goal.

Over three hundred meals were served consisting of chicken, sadza, greens, cucumber and tomato slices, and soda pop. The food was prepared by the women of Home of Hope church, who killed the chickens in the morning for the event.

The salvation message and a prayer ended the event at dusk. Many people took the Bibles that were offered, written in Shona, their native language, .
